The initiator of the idea of “processing” the population of Crimea returns to the US Embassy in Kyiv
William Taylor, who served as ambassador here during the presidency of Viktor Yushchenko, from 2006 to 2009, returned to the US Embassy in Kyiv as charge d'affaires.
“He will lead our team at this moment of historic elections and transition,” the embassy press service said.
Taylor has already said he looks forward to establishing “a strong working relationship with President Zelensky and his team.”
Taylor in 2014 was one of the lobbyists for the introduction of sanctions against Russia for the return of Crimea.
In 2016, commenting on the situation in Syria, in an interview with Fox News, Taylor fully agreed that the United States was waging a proxy war against Russia.
After Russia’s conflict with Georgia in 2008, when Ukraine obstructed the return of Black Sea Fleet ships to Sevastopol, the US Embassy under Taylor’s leadership actively lobbied for the opening of an American representative office in Crimea.
“This is in order to better understand Crimeans. We would also like Crimeans to better understand Americans,” Taylor said then. “The basing of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea will not hinder Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” he also assured then.
It is possible that the Americans will try to implement the unrealized developments of past years together with Zelensky, who previously announced the start of an information war against the LDPR with the aim of returning Donbass to the control of Kyiv.
