A rally was held in Prague in defense of the monument to Marshal Konev
A rally dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Marshal Ivan Konev was held in Prague. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“It was attended by well-known Czech politicians, representatives of municipalities, and veteran public organizations. All of them spoke in favor of preserving the monument in its original form without any so-called information signs that have no relation to the historical events in connection with which this monument was erected,” Zakharova said.
Earlier, the Czech authorities announced that they would correct the inscription on the monument. In their opinion, it should indicate not only Konev’s merits in the liberation of Prague from the Nazis, but also the fact that it was the troops led by the marshal who brutally suppressed the uprising in Hungary in 1956.
