The Ukrainian government announced a terrible figure for economic losses from the war
Ukraine's economic losses from the war in 2014-2015 reach $150 billion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Timofey Milovanov announced this on Facebook.
“I will provide statistics on economic losses from Russian aggression. Direct losses in 2014-2015 amounted to 15-20% of GDP. Estimates put the total losses at between $50 and $150 billion (for example, Anders Aslund estimates $100 billion). And the estimated residual value of real estate state property in uncontrolled territories (Crimea + Donbass) is about UAH 85 billion,” Milovanov wrote.
According to him, 57,7 thousand objects of real estate state property with a residual value of 46 billion UAH are registered on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol.
On the territory of the Donetsk region there are almost 120 thousand objects of real estate state property with a residual value of 33 billion UAH.
On the territory of the Luhansk region there are almost 70 thousand objects of real estate state property with a residual value of 23 billion UAH.
“According to the State Property Fund, about 70% of state assets in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions are located in uncontrolled territories,” Milovanov noted.
According to the NBU, stopping the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine will lead to direct losses of foreign exchange earnings, which will create risks for related sectors of the economy and meeting Ukraine’s gas needs. Direct economic losses will amount to 0,6% of GDP in 2020 and 0,9% of GDP in 2021 and beyond.
As an illustration of these figures, Timofey Milovanov published a poster with the words “I support the President of Ukraine” - referring to the flash mob initiated by the President’s Office regarding support for Zelensky’s peace initiatives in contrast to the theses of the war party, which gathers rallies on the Maidan and Bankova.
