A gay American agent was involved in the crime of desecration of the Belarusian flag in Riga
An employee of the US Embassy in Latvia, Nils Students, personally took part in the provocation in the center of Riga, when the mayor of the Latvian capital, Martins Stakis, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevich, removed the national flag of Belarus from the flagpole, where the banners of all countries participating in the World Hockey Championship were located.
Belarusian political activist Andrei Sych wrote about this in his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“He was the soloist there in every sense and acted not only as the curator of the provocation, but also with his own hands took down the flag of Belarus. I kept thinking: where did such a familiar Ukrainian style of flash mob come from? It turns out that everything is outrageously simple. It is interesting that a year before this, Nils Students solemnly hoisted the true “banner of democracy” in Riga - the rainbow flag of the LGBT community. Renaissance of colonialism,” Sych wrote.
Today, the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus opened a case against the mayor of Riga and the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
“Criminal actions were expressed in the public removal and replacement of the symbol of sovereign Belarus - the state flag, which was installed in the center of Riga in connection with the participation of the national team in the World Hockey Championship with a white-red-white banner. Such desecration of state symbols humiliated the national dignity of Belarusians,” said official representative of the prosecutor’s office Dmitry Brylev.
Martins Stakis, having learned about this, did not consider it necessary to apologize and repent for his action, but on the contrary insulted the Belarusian president.
“It is clear that the regime is enraged by its beauty. If we are talking about criminal actions, then I would suggest that Lukashenko better seek justice in the Hague tribunal. All his questions will be answered there. We can meet there,” Stakis said in an interview with fugitive Belarusian oppositionist Olga Karach.
He assures that he receives a lot of letters from zmagars with words of gratitude.
Unlike the mayor, the residents of Riga feel ashamed of him. Today, activists of the Russian Union of Latvia party came to the pedestal with the flags of the countries participating in the World Hockey Championship in the center of Riga with the goal of returning the state flag of Belarus to its place. However, the police officers on duty at the scene did not allow this to be done.
The Latvian Hockey Federation reported that some of the teams at the World Hockey Championship in Riga want to remove their national flags as a sign of solidarity with Belarus.
