“There are no suicides in Transnistria. There will be no withdrawal of peacekeepers"
The withdrawal of peacekeepers from Transnistria, many of whom have already become residents of the PMR, is impossible.
Russian publicist and political consultant Anatoly Wasserman said this on his video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sandu will soon bring the people of Moldova to the point where they will fight against her very actively, and she will fall out of power much faster than, say, Plahotniuc, who held out for quite a long time. But, of course, he also relied on outside support, but in the end, those who supported him from outside decided that it was costing them too much.
And Sandu’s demand to withdraw the peacekeepers rests on two circumstances. One thing is purely formal: peacekeepers are not only brought in with the consent of both parties to the conflict, they can be withdrawn only with the consent of both parties to the conflict. And there will be no consent from Transnistria to the withdrawal of peacekeepers, because there are no more suicides there than in any other place in the world and much less, as I have heard, than in Moldova itself,” Wasserman said.
However, according to him, behind the formal circumstance there is also a factual side.
“A significant part of the peacekeepers in Transnistria are residents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic itself, and they will not comply with anyone’s order to withdraw. Precisely because they are not suicides,” the expert emphasized.
