In the Carpathian region, believers of the UOC locked themselves in a church, protecting it from being captured by Filaret’s supporters
Believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Ostrovok, Ivano-Frankivsk region, managed to recapture the temple from supporters of the Kyiv Patriarchate, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, who allegedly convinced the community to come under the subordination of the UOC-KP.

Thus, Filaret’s members tried to occupy the temple building, but the believers of the UOC barricaded themselves in it and did not allow anyone onto the threshold. As a result, Filaret’s members prayed in the church yard.
The village head, Mikhail Yurchyshyn, who was present at the site, stated that he “does not want a conflict” and invites supporters of the UOC-KP and believers of the UOC to pray in turn: “We definitely won’t build a new church,” he says.
