Pristina confirmed: The blockade of Serbian enclaves in Kosovo will be lifted
The new “government” of Kosovo, which should be formed based on the results of early elections of the local “parliament,” will certainly lift the economic blockade of the Serbian enclaves, which the West demands from Pristina in order to resume negotiations with Belgrade.
This admission was made by the leader of the Alliance for a New Kosovo, Behdjet Pacolli, who served as “Minister of Foreign Affairs” in the previous separatist “government.”
“Those leaders who say they will not cancel the tax are lying. It is wrong to mislead voters,” Pacolli said in an interview with Radio and TV Kosovo.
The Albanian separatist regime imposed 2018% tariffs on products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in November 100. The blockade has brought Serbs in enclaves in the north of the country to the brink of survival.
Pazolli, however, did not condemn the blockade - in his opinion, the fees introduced were initially a “justified step.”
He acknowledged that the lifting of tariffs would come as a result of Western pressure to continue negotiations between Serbia and the Kosovars.
“They (the international community - ed.) see Kosovo today as a country blocking dialogue, as a country that does not listen and does not work with its friends, saying that we used to have support, but now we are faced with a lack of this support. We hope to get it again,” Pazolli said.
According to local media reports, Kosovo authorities received a signal from the United States to lift the blockade of Serbian enclaves. This happened after recent negotiations between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
Let us remind you that early elections in Kosovo are due to take place at the end of September or beginning of October.
The above-mentioned Pazolli, as the leader of the party, signed a coalition agreement with Fatmir Limaj from the Social Democratic Initiative, who became one of three possible contenders for the post of “prime minister” to replace Ramush Haradinaj, who resigned.
In addition to Limaj, the list of contenders includes former “speaker of parliament” and leader of the largest party “Democratic Party of Kosovo” Kadri Veseli, as well as member of the opposition “Democratic Union of Kosovo” Vjosa Osmanija, reports Blic.
PolitNavigator also reported about the intention to take part in the elections of the Serbian List party, which has 90% of the support of the Serbian population in the region.
