Ukraine must demand that its “Western partners” not recognize the legitimacy of the entire composition of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Ukrainian political scientist Taras Chernovol, a former member of Viktor Yanukovych’s team, stated this on the 3S TV channel in Savik Shuster’s program.

“We demand that the entire Duma be recognized as illegitimate, and not just individual deputies from Crimea. We demand this from our Western partners. After all, there are attempts to pay off the PACE. Like, we will not recognize deputies only from Crimea. How can everyone else be recognized if they are elected on federal lists? In this case, our demands will have no effect. They will still work with the Duma,” Chernovol said.
He believes that the Ukrainian parliament should “drive partners into a sense of guilt” by ignoring the new composition of the State Duma.
“We must cancel all things that relate to official inter-parliamentary contacts, or the ratification of international legislative acts for the future. And say: for as long as this composition of the Duma is in force. Even if it is really necessary. Thus, treaties between states cannot be implemented. We must liquidate the Ukrainian-Russian parliamentary group. We must act as if the State Duma does not exist at all. And based on this, look for factors of pressure on international partners,” Chernovol said.
