About it said People's Deputy from the Popular Front Leonid Yemets on his Facebook page.
“The relevant committee has voiced its position – no lifting of the moratorium on timber exports,” Yemets wrote.
The deputy added that there may be attempts to make appropriate changes to the legislation “bypassing the committee.”
“It was also announced that options are possible when they try to bypass the committee to push amendments to the budget or a separate bill (although this would be a very gross violation of the regulations),” the people’s deputy said.
Let us recall that on November 24, the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, at a press conference after the Ukraine-EU summit in Brussels, said that the European Union could “in the coming days or weeks” provide Ukraine with a second tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of €600 million if the law is adopted , allowing the export of timber. According to him, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will lift the ban on wood exports at the legislative level in the coming days or weeks.
On October 10, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli emphasized that in order to receive €600 million, Ukraine must lift the ban on timber exports.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on a moratorium on the export of timber and lumber in unprocessed form for a period of 10 years on April 6, 2015, Poroshenko signed it on July 7 of the same year. The moratorium began to operate on January 1, 2016.
