The Rada initiated the deprivation of citizens of state awards “for Russianness”
A bill will be developed in the Ukrainian parliament that will allow the National Security and Defense Council and the Rada to deprive Ukrainian citizens of state awards for “cooperation with the Russian World.”
Deputy Vladimir Vyatrovich stated this during a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Awarding certain citizens with state awards is obviously a tool for the country to form certain values and guidelines for the rest of society.
And it is very sad when it turns out that the bearers of state awards are not just unworthy people, but people who betrayed this country.
This is an unacceptable situation, and, unfortunately, the current legislation does not give us the opportunity to deprive traitors of the state awards that they received under the previous government.
I am convinced that such an initiative is necessary in order to put things in order with state awards, in order to clearly show who can really be considered heroes of Ukraine, and that those who betrayed the oath and the country cannot be considered such heroes,” says the Russophobe.
His party members explained that we are talking about the bearers of the Russian world, and, first of all, about those who contributed to the “occupation of Crimea and Donbass.”
“Now, together with the factions and groups that we represent, we will develop a normal mechanism so that state awards are identified with the successes and development of Ukraine. And not with something that can be betrayed and simply sold as an element of bargaining with the Russian World,” the deputies said.
At the same time, how the Russian World will be defined in the proposed law, and by what criteria cooperation with it will be assessed, remains unclear.
