The Rada is hysterical: We will not allow the Ukrainian army to be weakened by peacekeepers
Several representatives of parliamentary factions of the Verkhovna Rada spoke at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and committee chairmen regarding the Russian initiative to introduce UN peacekeepers to Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Yuriy Boyko (Opposition Bloc) supported the initiative.
“We welcome the initiative to introduce peacekeepers into the conflict zone. I would like to remind you that our faction, immediately after the signing of the Minsk agreements, which, in our opinion, played a very important role in stopping the hostilities, took such an initiative in order to finally end the conflict and move on to resolving political issues. We consider the introduction of peacekeepers to be a stage in the political movement and the achievement of the ultimate goal that the entire country sets for itself - the restoration of the territorial integrity of the state, the return of territories and people,” Boyko said.
Maxim Burbak (People's Front) stated that such initiatives from the “aggressor state” are unacceptable.
“The position of the Popular Front was expressed by Arseniy Yatsenyuk during the YES forum: Russia hastened to present its draft UN resolution. This is nonsense. A state that carried out armed aggression against Ukraine, a state whose troops occupied Crimea and part of Donbass is now beginning to play peacemaker. The position of the Popular Front is clear: the Russian draft resolution is unacceptable. This is a trap for the international community and Ukraine. We want to reassure the people of Ukraine: no UN decision regarding peacekeepers can or will be made without the approval of the Verkhovna Rada. This is the requirement of the Constitution of Ukraine, this is the tough position of our faction,” Burbak noted.
Oleg Berezyuk (“Self-Help”) saw an attempt to “pacify” the Ukrainian army.
“The introduction of peacekeepers is a sign of the weakness of the Ukrainian state and the strength of the enemy. And he's really strong. This introduction cannot be allowed to pacify the Ukrainian army, which is the only source of protection for Ukrainian statehood. And this is what our eternal enemy is planning. We will be silent? No. We will carefully observe and protest against the pacification of the Ukrainian military department,” Berezyuk said.
