The Rada is hysterical over the elections in Crimea and threatens with a complaint
The Ukrainian parliament must make another condemning statement regarding the holding of elections to the State Council of Russian Crimea.
This was stated by one of the leaders of ex-President Petro Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party, Irina Gerashchenko, during the conciliation council of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I want to remind you that illegal elections took place yesterday in Crimea, organized by the occupation authorities. We thank all the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians who ignored these elections and did not come to them. It shows an extremely low turnout, but it seems to me that the parliament cannot stand aside from the fact that the occupiers are holding elections in our territories, and it would be correct to prepare a corresponding statement, an appeal from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the parliaments of other countries, in which to condemn this.” , said the politician.
Let us recall that earlier the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sent a corresponding note of protest about the alleged illegitimacy of the elections on the peninsula. However, in Russia such attacks were ignored.
“We are little concerned about the recognition of the legitimacy of the elections by Ukraine and the countries that support it in sanctions against Crimea. The only important thing is that Crimeans themselves recognize these elections, go to the polling stations and vote,” said Senator from Crimea Sergei Tsekov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
