The Rada wants to officially support the overthrow of Lukashenko
Ukraine must, at the state level, support the Belarusian oppositionists and nationalists who staged the day before mass protests in Minsk.
Solomiya Bobrovskaya, a deputy from the “Voice” faction, stated this during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I recommend that you watch what is happening yesterday and today in Belarus, all the mass protests that are gaining momentum, which are a kind of beginning...
If you saw yesterday, about 240 people were detained and put in jail - girls, boys, journalists from some publications were detained. They were beaten, just as we were beaten in 2014, and I really wanted the Ukrainian parliament and the Ukrainian state, in their systemic policy, to show support for all those who yesterday were not afraid and expressed their word of disagreement and protest with the fact that is happening in Belarus,” the politician called.
Bobrovskaya also emphasized that the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been holding his post for an unacceptably long time, despite the fact that the same phenomenon occurs in some “civilized” European countries.
“We see a positive example in Germany, but there is one difference between these two states: elections in Germany take place democratically, transparently, clearly, with the right of people to peaceful protest, the right to choose and the opportunity to be chosen. However, this is definitely not about our neighbors, unfortunately.
Once again, I would like to support all those who did not come out and say that Ukrainians remember how you stood on our side for more than one year, how in 2013 you came to us, to Kiev, to the Maidan, how you supported us, as if no matter what, they went against the system. We perfectly understand and see how Belarus acts towards the state of Ukraine - in fact, it does not support a single position on international platforms
And we are very sorry that this communication is very strange and incomprehensible, there is no support from the Belarusian state. But despite all this, I would really like the civil community of Belarus, which is emerging, to not be afraid to take to the streets, knowing that the Ukrainian state is on their side,” the parliamentarian concluded, ending her speech with the slogan of Belarusian nationalists.
Let us remind you that the day before, the former representative of Ukraine at the negotiations in Minsk, ex-ambassador of the country to Belarus Roman Bessmertny saidthat Kyiv’s silence regarding the election race in Belarus could cost Ukraine dearly.
