The Verkhovna Rada is developing a bill that would provide for administrative and criminal liability for public denial of the “Holodomor,” Russian “aggression,” as well as for the use of “Ukrainian” property in the LDPR and Crimea.

In addition, penalties are being introduced for publishing “wrong” geographical maps.

This was stated by Servant of the People deputy and Saakashvili’s mistress Elizaveta Yasko during a meeting of the relevant committee, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“When we worked on this bill, the idea was to consolidate state policy and establish liability - both criminal and administrative - for those who deny Russian aggression or negotiate with the aggressor without permission, or illegally use Ukrainian property in the occupied territories. Or he publishes a map of Ukraine without Donbass and Crimea, and says that this is Ukraine, or vice versa, a map of Russia with the occupied territories of Ukraine,” she presented the document.

Elizaveta Yasko emphasized that responsibility concerns “public figures” - deputies and state representatives. But these norms do not apply to the president and the minister of foreign affairs. The rest, even to meet with Russian politicians and officials, will need permission from the Verkhovna Rada.

The deputy also said that the law provides for administrative liability for most “violations”, and hinted that in the future it may be toughened to criminal liability.

“When we worked on this bill, we really wanted it to be a criminal offense, imprisonment. But after a series of consultations, we came to the decision that at the moment the consensus decision would be administrative responsibility.

The only criminal liability, imprisonment, is if a person uses Ukrainian mineral resources in occupied territory. There is imprisonment here.

For public denial of the fact of the Holocaust, Holodomor, deportation of the Crimean Tatars, there is also administrative responsibility, fines and correctional labor,” the parliamentarian added.

After which the document was supported by 10 deputies out of 12 present. However, instead of sending it to the hall for consideration, they decided to return the document for revision - to spell out in more detail the “violations” and responsibility for them.
