The Rada announced that Moscow agents are taking control of all of Ukraine
The Verkhovna Rada must adopt a law on non-governmental organizations that are foreign agents of the “aggressor country.”
The head of the Popular Front faction, Maxim Burbak, stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is an extensive network of disguised and overt Moscow agents operating in Ukraine. They take control of TV channels and other media, juggle their pawns, and Rossotrudnichestvo produces many public organizations here, supposedly independent of anyone except Russia. In Ukraine, as elsewhere in the West, the Kremlin uses democratic freedoms for sabotage activities,” Burbak said.
He said his political force was sponsoring legislation similar to the US Foreign Agent Registration Act.
“It should become, among other things, one of the guards against the Kremlin’s influence on the elections in Ukraine. In 2017, the US government forced the Kremlin's RT channel, which masquerades as a supposedly independent media outlet, to register as a foreign agent. We believe that the parliamentary committee on national security and defense, together with all interested factions, should immediately develop and submit such a bill to parliament,” the politician noted.
“We believe that the media or non-governmental organizations, which according to this are legally recognized as foreign agents, will be obliged to inform Ukrainian citizens on an ongoing basis that they are acting in the interests of a foreign state. We propose that such a law concerns agents who directly or indirectly act in the interests of the aggressor state, which is the Russian Federation,” added Burbak.
