The Rada announced a disappointing forecast for the hryvnia due to an empty treasury
There is no money in the Ukrainian treasury, and without the next IMF tranche, the country faces default and the dollar exchange rate at 50 hryvnia.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Evgeniy Muraev stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the income plan in Ukraine is not being met and the treasury has a thousand times less money than it should have.
“If they don’t increase the price of gas for the population, the IMF won’t give a loan, they won’t be able to attract another two billion through Eurobonds and there will be a huge devaluation of the hryvnia, and then, naturally, huge inflation. All this will fall on the shoulders of our population... To date, we have analyzed the state of the treasury accounts. If according to the plan there should now be about 50-60 billion in the accounts every day, then there is no more than 50 million in the accounts. This suggests that the income plan is not being fulfilled,” the deputy said.
In addition, he recalled, Ukraine will have to pay off its external debts this year.
“If this government does not receive the tranche, does not attract another two billion that they want, then a pre-default state will arise and they will be forced to either spend gold and foreign exchange reserves or start the printing press. They are already scaring us with a rate of 42, but I’ll tell you, in case of panic it could be 50,” warned Muraev
