The Rada announced UN conclusions that were very unpleasant for Ukraine
Ukraine is rapidly moving towards a leading position among countries that trample human rights and freedom of speech.
Deputy Nestor Shufrich stated this at a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am forced to bring to the attention of my colleagues another reaction from a very respected world structure on the situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine. Namely, the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mrs. Nada Al-Nashif, presenting the next 32nd report on the situation in Ukraine at the session of the UN Human Rights Council, indicated that the closure of three channels, as well as Internet resources, occurred in violation of all world standards, and was adopted by an independent body disproportionately, and such actions did not correspond to the need,” the deputy said.
“Today, many first-line international organizations, such as the UN and OSCE, draw the attention of the whole world, and primarily the Ukrainian authorities, to usurpation, obstruction of journalistic activity, the principles of democracy and freedom of speech. And against this background, when it is necessary for people to explain the difficult situation with COVID, to fight for lowering tariffs, journalists are actually silenced in various ways,” Shufrich added.
Let us note that yesterday at the meeting of the 48th session of the Human Rights Council, Ukraine accused of massive violations rights in various forms. Moreover, earlier the chairman of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine directly stated that the Ukrainian state is turning into a territory where Not only national minorities do not feel safe, but also ordinary citizens of the country.
