The Rada supported the renaming of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
At its meeting yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality approved bill No. 5309, which stipulates that a church or religious organization whose governing center is located on the territory of the “aggressor state” must display in its name “a place in the structure of a foreign organization.” .

The church is given four months to change its name. Now the bill will be considered in the session hall of the Ukrainian parliament.
It is noteworthy that the Main Scientific and Expert Directorate of the Verkhovna Rada came to the conclusion that the bill should be rejected.
“As it turns out, they want to deprive believers of the UOC of the opportunity not only to pray in their churches, but also to take away the name of the Church! – UOC clergyman Alexander Bakhov commented on the situation in his blog. “Probably Denisenko Mikhail Antonovich thinks that the name will give him recognition of other Churches and canonicity?”
