The Rada boasted of a failed anti-Russian resolution
An example of Ukraine’s supposedly successful work in PACE is failed anti-Russian resolution, which they were never able to push through in PACE.
Deputy from the Servant of the People Maria Mezentseva stated this at a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At this January session, we worked very well on one of the resolutions, which concerned the appeal of the powers of the Russian delegation. It became a document that, in every paragraph, emphasized the violation of existing resolutions, violations in the Ukrainian Crimea and Donbass, and, in general, human rights violations committed by Russia in other countries,” Mezentseva said.
In turn, a deputy from European Solidarity, Alexey Goncharenko, said that the failed anti-Russian resolution is a great victory for Ukraine.
“Our delegation managed to launch an official procedure for appealing the powers of the Russian delegation. And although it all ended with Russians being allowed to work in PACE, this was expected, but the Russian Federation became the only Council of Europe country for which such a procedure was officially launched.
A separate report was prepared on the only question - whether the Russian Federation deserves to be in PACE, and this report was very critical of Russia. And there were debates, which we took full advantage of to appeal to our European colleagues,” Goncharenko added.
