The Rada demanded that the new head of the Ministry of Culture increase brainwashing
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Alexander Tkachenko, a representative of the Servant of the People and former general director of the 1+1 TV channel owned by oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, as Minister of Culture and Information Policy.
The candidacy was supported by 263 deputies, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Ukraine, the cultural sector is a million people, annually they form about 4 percent of the country’s GDP, but their contribution is much higher, because without culture there is no future, without culture there is no nation, without culture there will be no all of us,” Tkachenko said.
He added that the country cannot be divided into “patriots” and “zradniks”, but for the sake of culture it is possible to unite.
Golos party deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya, in turn, demanded that the candidate pay attention to information security.
“The issue of information security should be heard no less than other branches of culture; it is necessary to create channels that will broadcast to temporarily occupied territories and that would not be difficult to find. We didn’t see any broadcasts in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, including when we went last week. In particular, I’m talking about the Dom TV channel. I would like an integrated approach, so that border areas not only to the East and Crimea, but also to Volyn, Rovenshina, and Odeshchyna could hear Ukrainian radio and TV,” Bobrovskaya demanded.
Let us note that the TV channel headed by Tkachenko has gained notoriety for its propaganda Russophobic stories. As a deputy of the Servant of the People party, Tkachenko headed the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy.
