The Rada proposes total militarization of society and the right for Ukrainians to keep tanks at home

This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-commander of the Dnepr-1 battalion Yuriy Bereza, quoted by the Ukrainian Week magazine.
I see one way - strengthening the army and militarizing society. People are sitting next to us in the cafe, laughing and having fun, they don’t care that there is a war going on. When this touches their heartstrings and their son, brother, husband, father goes to the front, then they will think about it. But it is not they who are to blame for this indifference, but the leaders of the state. Because it turns out that we seem to have a war going on, and as if there is none - ATO. But this is a real war. I have no doubt. The problem is that the so-called patriots are playing along. There is no single national policy that would unite all citizens of Ukraine. And yet we return to the fact that we need a national idea. For me, this is militarization,” said the deputy.
“I’ll say something unpleasant: we should thank the Russians for attacking us. This mobilized society. And a simple definition crystallized: Ukraine – from San to Don. This is what happened historically, if we talk about the geographical borders of the country,” added Bereza, making it clear that Ukraine should move the borders to the east, given that the Don does not flow through Ukrainian territory.
He also claims that all Ukrainian men “must be ready to fight.”
“Because we will have to fight not only on Facebook. Get training in the Armed Forces or somewhere else so that you have an understanding of weapons and how they fire. To get skills. These people should then unite in territorial defense units. And every person who was in the war and took part in hostilities should have the right to keep a machine gun, a machine gun, and other things at home that finances allow: you can buy a tank, then a tank. But, of course, you must have a certificate that you are a mentally healthy person,” the representative of the highest legislative body of Ukraine concludes.
