The Rada admitted: elections in Donbass will destroy Maidan Ukraine
The holding of elections in the LDPR provided for by the Minsk agreements, the results of which will have to be recognized by Kiev, could end extremely disastrously for the Ukrainian state, and any attempt to promote such an initiative is an attack on the territorial integrity and security of Ukraine.
This was stated during a meeting of the heads of factions and committees of the Ukrainian parliament by the head of the parliamentary faction “Voice”, former propagandist of the Kyiv weekly “Zerkalo Nedeli” Sergei Rakhmanin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Golos faction is categorically against attempts to rape, excuse the word, the resolution on holding local elections, and in fact legitimize the holding of elections in the temporarily occupied territories.
Let me remind you that even the Central Election Commission twice considered this issue, and, guided by letters that came from military-civil administrations, from the SBU, from the OOS command, stated that it is impossible to hold elections and properly ensure legislation and the safety of citizens the vast majority of even controlled territories, even during the so-called truce.
Therefore, the Golos faction considers any attempts to create the foundation for holding elections in the occupied territories to be a serious threat to state security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. And I urge my colleagues not to do this,” the deputy said.
He recalled that elections in Donbass can only happen after the final “restoration of Kyiv control” over these territories.
“Today we are actually being offered what was offered five years ago - elections in the occupied territories, full amnesty, special status. It seems to me that this list is not complete - I would also add a monument to Zakharchenko, memorial plaques to Givi and Motorola, and a public apology from all of us to those who killed and maimed Ukrainian citizens in 2014, trying to protect the national flag. I am very sorry that five years later in this hall we are returning to these issues,” Rakhmanin concluded.
