The Rada believes that Ukraine is on the verge of an environmental disaster
Ukraine is on the verge of a large-scale environmental disaster due to the fact that the power supply to the mines of the Lugansk region was cut off for debts.
This was stated by Sergei Shakhov, a deputy from the Our Land party, during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There is an environmental disaster in the Lugansk region - 39 mines in that territory are completely flooded, the city of Zolote, Gornoe, Toshkovka, Popasnyansky district, Rubezhnoye, my assistant Sergei Velmozhny informed me that today the electricity has been completely turned off for debts.
The Lugansk Energy Association mocks the miners and does not provide electricity; water pumping is minimal. If this alkaline water gets into the Seversky Donets, and then into the Sea of Azov, there will be an environmental disaster not only in the Lugansk region, but throughout the country, pay attention to this. I demand that at least the minister go to the Luhansk region,” the people’s deputy demanded.
