There is a scandal in the Rada: “Servants of the People” were caught in the act
During the three days of work of the Ukrainian parliament, journalists recorded two cases of button pushing on the part of the ruling Servant of the People party.
This was stated during the regular plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada by the former vice-speaker of parliament, now a deputy from the European Solidarity faction, Irina Gerashchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the three days of the plenary session, journalists of the “Chestno” movement recorded three cases of button pushing. We call on the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to pay attention to this shameful violation of the Constitution, regulations, and the law of Ukraine on the status of the People's Deputy of Ukraine.
Mr. Razumkov, we ask you to immediately instruct the regulatory committee to consider cases of button-pressing by people’s deputies Sergei Litvinenko, Elena Kopanchuk, and Alexander Kovalev. One of them also interfered with the work of journalists and threatened journalists, as journalists from the “Honestly” movement write about. We ask you to immediately give instructions that the committee on freedom of speech immediately consider this case, and also adhere to the promises of the respected President Zelensky, who also protests against button pushing,” the politician was indignant.
After this, Speaker of Parliament Dmitry Razumkov assured that the relevant instructions had already been given, and then gave the floor to the guilty people’s deputies.
During the apology, Servant of the People MP Sergei Litvinenko called the incident a “mistake” and promised to donate his monthly salary to charity.
“I want to apologize for what happened. There was no intent in my actions, it happened in turbo mode, it happened by mistake, because I was worried about these laws, so that we would vote for them the way my soul and heart told me, there was no malicious intent. I want to apologize and say that I am ready to donate my monthly salary to charitable foundations for this mistake,” Litvinenko said.
His faction colleague Elena Kopanchuk also apologized and promised to donate her salary to charity.
Let us remember that during the election campaign, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky sharply criticized push-button practices and promised that he would completely eradicate such fraud.
Thank you!
