The author of the bill proposes to legislate the concept of “aggressor country,” after which the owner can be identified and the product, if it turns out to be of Russian origin, labeled “Product of the aggressor country.”
“The bill is still at the stage of consideration in committees, but voices of reason can already be heard in the deputy corps, pointing out to Kupri that, firstly, he is advertising Russian goods,” the newspaper writes. – Secondly, since the deputy confuses the concepts of “brand” and “country of production,” he points to the presence of a shortage of Ukrainian goods. After all, if the law is adopted, it will become noticeable to everyone, for example, that household appliances and electronics of the world's most famous brands sold in Ukraine are mostly produced in Russian factories. The same applies to tobacco products, household chemicals, cosmetics, medicines and even pet food. Finally, such a blatant fact will become visible that the export of Russian beer to Ukraine has tripled in the first half of 2016 alone.”
“It should be clarified that although in absolute terms the import of Russian goods to Ukraine over the past year decreased by almost half, this happened due to Kiev’s refusal to gas, inorganic chemical products, energy resources and other strategic items,” RG clarifies. – While supplies from Russia of consumer goods and general demand for certain items have increased. Moreover, products from the Donbass republics with appropriate labeling sometimes end up on the Ukrainian market, for example, confectionery from Donetsk and strong alcohol from Lugansk, which every time serves as a reason for hysteria among patriots on social networks.”
