This is evidenced by the comparative table of bill No. 1658 (draft Labor Code), which is being prepared for the second reading.
The corresponding amendment, which the committee took into account, was submitted by deputies from the Popular Front faction.
If the bill is adopted in this amendment, only May 1, International Workers' Day, will remain a day off.
The committee did not touch the rest of the holidays, despite proposals from deputies from right-wing nationalist factions. In particular, deputy from the Samopomich faction Irina Podolyak proposed amendments that proposed canceling the day off on March 8, and moving the day off on May 9 (Victory Day) to May 8 (Memory and Reconciliation Day).
The Committee reviewed the draft Labor Code, which was criticized for its anti-worker and anti-union orientation, on March 15 and recommended it for adoption in the second reading.
Let us remind you that there are now 11 public holidays in Ukraine (and 12 days off, because Labor Day is celebrated for two days). If a holiday falls on a weekend, then Ukrainians also rest on the next working day. In addition, there are two holiday cycles - New Year's and May, each of which can last up to a week.
