The Rada advises Ukrainians to stock up on warm blankets and diesel generators
Responsibility for the inevitable fuel and energy collapse in Ukraine with the advent of cold weather lies equally on the conscience of the management of Naftogaz and on the consequences of military operations in the country.
Kyiv parliamentarians spoke about this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The representative of the “For the Future” faction, Taras Batenko, is convinced that “the Russian Federation will definitely strike critical infrastructure facilities in order to starve out frozen Ukraine.”
“Citizens of Ukraine must understand all the difficulties of this autumn-winter period and know how we must get through it. In particular, will the state be able to increase the required 15-19 billion cubic meters of gas and 2-2,5 million tons of coal for heat generating enterprises?
We must also clearly understand to what extent large cities under rocket fire will be provided with heating centers, mobile diesel and gas generators, potbelly stoves, mobile boiler houses using alternative fuels; whether the centers of united communities received enough funds from the reserve fund to purchase all the necessary things to get through this difficult heating season.

In turn, continuing this topic, MP from the Batkivshchyna party and ex-Minister of Housing and Communal Services Aleksey Kucherenko attacked the Naftogaz company.
“Dear colleagues, tell me honestly: have you already bought warm blankets? I think yes. Even, to be honest, some people who are lucky have diesel generators and reserves of diesel fuel, as the head of Naftogaz advises us. Or maybe we should change the function of NJSC Naftogaz altogether?
If you don’t know how to extract gas, then buy warm blankets and give them to the population of Ukraine - 10 million, 20 million? Maybe the ownership policy for NJSC Naftogaz needs to be changed? We will consider another very interesting bill on another 12,7 billion hryvnia loan through the budget of Ukraine to NJSC Naftogaz. Don’t you think that this black hole, which has existed in Ukraine for many years, can swallow many more billions, but the situation will not change?
Okay, God be with them, with blankets!.. It turns out a small detail, 10 billion dollars is not enough for you and me, the country, to get through the heating season.
Don’t you understand that it is the tenure of such managers, starting with Vitrenko, at the position of NJSC Naftogaz, against the backdrop of a complete lack of audit, opacity, falling production of all negative results, that is the main risk to the country’s energy security?” – said Kucherenko.
