The Rada is arguing about the possibility of holding elections under martial law and a state of emergency
Kyiv, April 15 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Batkivshchyna party Andrey Kozhemyakin registered a draft law that allows early elections of the President of Ukraine and midterm elections to the Verkhovna Rada under conditions of a state of emergency and martial law.

“The adoption of this law will make it possible to stop political speculation around the attempt to disrupt the presidential elections in Ukraine with the help of the Russian aggressor,” the author emphasized.
“We may have to go to a state of emergency or martial law in some areas. The legislation does not allow holding elections in such conditions,” explained Kozhemyakin’s colleague, deputy Sergei Sobolev.
In turn, MP from the Communist Party Adam Martyniuk said that the proposed bill is unprecedented from the point of view of international law, since in history there have never been cases of holding elections under conditions of martial law and a state of emergency.
“To hold presidential elections at gunpoint is something the world has never seen before, let’s be the first here too,” the deputy said.
