The Rada assures that without the control of deputies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine they will carry out a military coup
Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oksana Syroid convinces that without parliamentary control over the Armed Forces of Ukraine there will be a military coup in the country, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She writes about this today in the weekly Mirror of the Week.
“Without parliamentary control over the use of armed forces, one should not be surprised if one day Ukrainian troops go to the Maidan or to Hrushevsky, but not for a parade,” writes Syroid.
In her opinion, the military will be outraged by the fact that “without a decision from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on the use of armed forces in connection with aggression, everyone who used weapons can be tried for murder under peacetime laws.”
She harshly criticized the national security law introduced by Petro Poroshenko. Syroid believes that parliament should have complete control over the army, from budget spending to the appointment of each general.
Only under these conditions, writes the vice-speaker, does Ukraine have a chance of joining NATO. She ridiculed Poroshenko’s idea to introduce a clause on joining the Alliance into the Constitution of Ukraine.
“It is possible to write down a strategic goal in the Constitution of Ukraine - to launch the Falcon-9 rocket. We can even try to convince Elon Musk to acknowledge our intentions to do this. However, this will not build the rocket and will not fly,” Syroid wrote.
