The Rada screamed about the threat of invasion of Kherson from Crimea
The Verkhovna Rada demands that a National Guard unit be stationed in Genichesk, Kherson region, on the border with Crimea, and that a “Crimean operational-territorial association” be created, as well as an increase in the number of police officers in settlements bordering the Russian peninsula.
The head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, Anna Gopko, stated this in her address to Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to her, there are too few Ukrainian security forces on the border with Crimea and they will not be able to restrain “Russian aggression.”
“The security situation in the south of the Kherson region is still not much better than the spring of 2014, when the Russian military from Crimea moved several kilometers deep into the mainland. And they were stopped on Chongar by ordinary residents of Ukrainian villages with hunting weapons.
Over the past 4 years, Ukraine’s defense capabilities have grown significantly, but the presence of security forces near the occupied Crimea is negligible; they are not enough to effectively counter Russia’s constant subversive activities,” says Gopko.
