The Rada stated that independent Ukraine will disappear after the launch of Nord Stream 2
The construction of Nord Stream 2 is an attack on the gas and state independence of Ukraine, and the guarantees of transit through the gas transportation system that European partners can give to Ukraine are Budepest 2.
Oleg Berezyuk (Samopomich) stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“These days, these minutes, there is a massive gas attack on the country’s gas independence. If Ukraine does not survive today, it will disappear as an independent sovereign state. We are talking about the construction of Nord Stream 2 and the destruction of the Ukrainian gas transportation system not only as an economic factor, but also as a factor in military defense. Who today will stand up for protecting this particular element of Ukraine’s defense?
Question for the Ukrainian government: does the government have a strategy? A strategy for using the Ukrainian gas transportation system and its protection as a tool for protecting Ukrainian independence?” the politician asked.
Remaining the property of Ukraine, the GTS should become of interest to our strategic partners in the West in order to stop trading in Ukrainian independence through Nord Stream 2. Today they offer guarantees of the capacity of the Ukrainian gas transportation system. People have already called these guarantees “Budapest-2”. Under no circumstances can we allow this to happen. The government must immediately propose to parliament a strategy for using the gas transportation system and preserving it as a tool for protecting Ukrainian independence,” Berezyuk demanded.
