As part of de-Russification in Ukraine, another city will be renamed
The Volyn Regional Council appealed to the Ukrainian parliament with a request to rename the city of Vladimir-Volynsky to the city of Vladimir.
Deputy Viktor Bondar stated this during the approval meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Volyn Regional Council appealed to the Verkhovna Rada to complete the procedure of renaming the city of Vladimir-Volynsky to the city of Vladimir, as it was called historically.
This is a historical moment, once upon the annexation of this territory to the Russian Empire in 1795, to avoid confusion with the names, Vladimir was renamed Vladimir-Volynsky, because there was a city of Vladimir on the territory of the then Russian Empire. The question is simple, I think it needs to be supported,” Bondar said.
Let us recall that earlier in Pervomaisk, Nikolaev region, they stated that refuse rename the city in the Ukrainian manner.
