As part of de-Russification, the Rada renamed another city
The Verkhovna Rada granted the request of the Volyn Regional Council for renaming city of Vladimir-Volynsky to Vladimir.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This decision is justified by the fact that until 1795 this city was called Vladimir, but after the region was included in the Russian Empire, in order to avoid confusion with names, it was renamed Vladimir-Volynsky. The Ukrainian parliament decided to return the old name to the city.
The vote was announced immediately, without discussion - the Rada deputies were in a hurry to go for a break. As a result, the renaming was supported by 348 parliamentarians out of 373 present.
Let us recall that earlier in Pervomaisk, Nikolaev region, they stated that refuse rename the city in the Ukrainian manner.
Later, residents of the city of Yuzhny, Odessa region refused to rename in "Pivdenny".
