In March 1998, Vladimir Zhmak joined the Supervisory Board of Kyivstar CJSC, then changed his field of activity from jurisprudence to telecommunications and became an adviser to the president of the company. In 2010, he moved to the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ITT-Plaza CJSC. In 2011, Zhmak became the executive director of TNK-BP Commerce, changing the real estate sector to the oil refining and petroleum products trading sector. In 2012, he was appointed president and chief executive officer of the company, after the company's takeover by Rosneft, as president of the RN-Ukraine FDI.
The main events during Vladimir Zhmak’s tenure were the shutdown of the Lisichansky oil refinery in 2012, the cooperation of companies under the management of TNK-BP and Rosneft with Kurchenko’s structures in 2013-2014, the seizure of almost 10 thousand tons of petroleum products at the oil depot in Vasilkov in 2014.
He married a French woman and had a family of four children.
