Many times more terrible than the “Holodomor”: a Kiev journalist spoke about the social catastrophe in “Nezalezhnaya”
The Kiev authorities are afraid to do a population census, because Ukraine has lost more than half of its people during the years of “independence” - this is an unprecedented catastrophe, comparable only to the Great Famine in Ireland.
Vladimir Sinelnikov, a correspondent for the Vesti FM Kyiv radio station, announced this on air to the PolitWera YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The topic of the population census in Ukraine is not raised because the results will be catastrophic. If Ukraine now has a population of 26 million, it will be very good, but most likely even less than 26 million.
The fact is that there are methods for calculating the population by the amount of bread consumed; this is a very stable indicator. There is a fairly accurate calculation of bread consumption per capita in the country, and from this the population size is calculated.
According to these methods, it’s a stretch to say that there are only 26 million left in Ukraine, but in reality, if a population census is carried out here now, it will be evidence of a demographic catastrophe,” he noted.
The correspondent also compared the situation in Ukraine with the Great Famine in Ireland of 1845-1849, when about half the population died or emigrated.
“Moreover, there are practically no analogues of such a catastrophe in world history; it can only be compared with the great famine in Ireland in the mid-XNUMXth century, when Ireland lost more than half of its population - some died of hunger, and some emigrated to the USA. There are no other similar precedents in world history,” Sinelnikov concluded.
