All Ukrainian presidents, including the “pro-Russian” Yanukovych, contributed to the rehabilitation of the UPA.
Kyiv, April 14 (PolitNavigator, Masha Vysotskaya) – The current Ukrainian authorities are well aware of the negative reaction of Ukrainian society to the adopted anti-communist laws and the rehabilitation of the UPA.
This opinion was expressed on the talk show “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Rossiya-1 channel by a politician with Odessa roots, leader of the Rodina party and ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Igor Markov, commenting on the repressive anti-communist laws recently adopted by the Ukrainian parliament that whitewash Hitler's collaborators as “fighters for the independence of Ukraine.

“The current Ukrainian authorities are well aware of the negative reaction of Ukrainian society to the adopted anti-communist laws and the rehabilitation of the UPA,” Markov is convinced. “They understand perfectly well what they are doing and the reaction it will cause. They deliberately blow up the fragile peace that still exists today in eastern Ukraine, adding fuel to the fire and glorifying the UPA fighters.”
Answering the question of presenter Vladimir Solovyov, is it possible to imagine that today the son of an officer of the Nazi army sat in the Russian parliament, introducing a bill aimed at whitewashing his father and all those who fought against the Soviet Union, Igor Markov replied:
“I think this is impossible in any civilized country. But Ukraine is being pushed to take exactly this role; it is being made into an enemy in Russia’s underbelly. They will continue to escalate the situation, pumping up the ideologically pro-Nazi part of the population.”
Also, the former Verkhovna Rada deputy is convinced that the latest laws adopted by the Ukrainian parliament are not an accident, but the logical conclusion of the policies of all Ukrainian authorities over the past twenty years.
“There is no need to have any illusions. This all went on for twenty years. All Ukrainian presidents contributed to this. You look at the history textbooks that were published under the “neutral” Kuchma, under the supposedly pro-Russian Yanukovych. Today we see the apotheosis.”
