A new building of the Russian-Serbian monastery was consecrated in the Republika Srpska
In the Republika Srpska (one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina), a new building of the Russian-Serbian monastery of St. Alexander Nevsky was consecrated, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Bishop Photios of Zvornitsko-Tuzlan of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) consecrated the new building of the Russian-Serbian monastery of St. Alexander Nevsky in Ugljevik (Republic of Srpska).
The monastery arose from the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, built on the base of Russian peacekeepers, located in Ugljevik since 1996. It was consecrated on September 12, 1997, and services were performed there by the Russian clergy. After the departure of the Russian contingent, the temple was transferred to the Zvornitsa-Tuzlan diocese of the SOC.
In his speech after the consecration, the bishop again emphasized that Russians and Serbs are brothers, bound by the same faith and common history:
“All our shrines are Russian shrines, and all Russian shrines are also ours.” New paintings in the refectory of the monastery were made by artists from Russia.
Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov, who was present at the consecration, said that truth and justice must be strong in order to fight the devil and all anti-human principles.
“It is the churches and monasteries that give us strength in this fight, and love and true friendship between the Russian and Serbian peoples are also important,” the Russian diplomat emphasized.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, on October 14, 2022, on the feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the enthronement ceremony of Patriarch Porfiry of Serbia took place in the Peć Patriarchate in the territory of the Serbian Autonomous Region of Kosovo and Metohija.
