According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the opening of the bust of the Russian and Soviet military leader on May 7 was attended by the mayor of Banja Luka, Drasko Stanivukovic, and the Russian Ambassador to BiH, Igor Kalabukhov.

It is noteworthy that the bust of the Soviet military leader was installed on the Alley of Heroes of the Second World War, becoming the only monument to a Russian in this memorable place.

“Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov is a symbol of freedom and anti-fascism! – said Stanivukovic, speaking at the bust unveiling ceremony. – Banja Luka, a city that made a significant contribution to the liberation and preservation of true human values during the Second World War, deserves such a bust. In this way, we are strengthening the close ties between Republika Srpska and Russia. We are sending a signal about the importance of fighting fascism from the free city of Banja Luka.”

The May 9 holiday in RS began with a parade on Red Square in Moscow.

Next, the leadership of the Serbian entity and representatives of Serbs in the federal structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina (President Zeljka Cvijanovic, Chairman of the National Assembly Nedeljko Cubrilovic, Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija) laid wreaths at the monument to the victims of fascism on the Square of Fallen Fighters in Banja -Luke. Russian diplomats also took part in the ceremony: Ambassador Igor Kalabukhov and military attache Sergei Ilnitsky.

Speaking at the event, Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik noted that May 9, 1945 marked the end of enormous suffering that claimed tens of millions of victims, most of them citizens of the Soviet Union, and among the peoples of Yugoslavia, the Serbs suffered the most significant losses.

“During the Second World War, the Serbs had two armies, one was the People's Liberation Army (communists - ed.), and the other was the Yugoslav Homeland Army (monarchists - ed.), which collaborated with the allies and the fact that in At the end of the war, both partisans and Chetniks rescued American and allied pilots shot down (by the Germans and their Croatian-Bosniak-Bulgarian-Slovenian minions - ed.), clearly sending a signal to their lands on whose side the Serbian people were...

Celebrating Victory Day, we are proud that we were on the side of the Great Victory in World War II... And your arguments about the courts, about the verdicts, are not able to force us to admit what did not happen. The Serbs never committed genocide, but genocide was committed against the Serbs, which none of the international officials wanted to admit. They always tried to put the Serbs on the other, negative side, especially in the wars of the 90s, when they tried to label the Serbs as barbarians and as genocidalists.

They remain persistent even now when, some 20 years after the events in and around Srebrenica, we have access to information that the British government had at the time, which states that the Republika Srpska leadership had no intention, planning or involvement in preparations for the operation in Srebrenica itself (the decision to take the Islamist enclave appeared spontaneously after another raid from it - ed.),” added the Serbian member of the Presidium of BiH.

The Bosnian Serb leader thanked all those who oppose revisionism for standing up for the truth, and noted that the revision of history, especially those related to the Second World War, will not and cannot happen.

“This “fair” and hypocritical West! I am more tired than they are in their persistent attempts to discipline us here, and they do not want to see our sacrifices, our contribution to the victory, the overall development of civilization, because they would not even recognize today's civilization if it were not for our Serbian participation. We passed Golgotha, we have a reason to celebrate this date, although we paid for it with a huge number of victims,” Dodik noted.
