This was announced during a meeting with ATO participants in Kyiv by the paramedic of the “Peacemaker” battalion, Mikhail Gulak, who has participated in the battles for Ilovaisk since August 24 last year. According to him, the unit’s surgeon, Nikolai Lenko, was seriously wounded while surrounded, was captured and taken to Russia.
“As far as I remember, he could not abandon the wounded, who were also captured,” Gulak said. “One of them was a woman, a medical worker. And already there he was interrogated. As far as I know, the surgeon who operated on him is from Zaporozhye. Also Ukrainian. He asked how Khreshchatyk was, and how Ukraine was. And saved his life."
At the same time, in Ukraine their military medic was greeted somewhat differently.
“They took me back to the territory of Ukraine,” recalls Gulak. “Our people put him in a pit with corpses, and there he remained for three days along with these corpses.”
