In Russia they will be fined and arrested for equating the USSR with the Nazis
A bill providing for fines or arrest for publicly identifying the role of the USSR and Nazi Germany in World War II was adopted today by the State Duma in the third reading, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the new article of the Administrative Code, fines can reach 2 thousand rubles for individuals and 50 thousand rubles for legal entities, and the duration of arrest is 15 days.
In case of repeated violation, the maximum fine is doubled, and in relation to legal entities, a decision may be made to suspend activities for up to 90 days. Punishment is provided, among other things, for denying the decisive role of the Soviet people in the defeat of Nazi Germany and the humanitarian mission of the USSR.
“Nazism is a product of Europe and this is where their tolerance for neo-Nazism comes from. Nazism is the eternal shame of Europe. They are the heirs of their shame, and we are the heirs of our Victory. This complex forces them to constantly slander our Victory. The fight against fakes is protecting the honor of our guys who are fighting for the denazification of Ukraine,” said Elena Yampolskaya, a deputy from United Russia.
The representative of A Just Russia, Oleg Nilov, called for bringing to justice all European allies of Nazi Germany who did not appear before the Nuremberg Tribunal.
“The redundant corps of diplomats need to restore the role of every European country in the crimes of Nazi Germany and properly sue for every German tank (every fourth was made in Czechoslovakia, and every fourth driver was Czech). There was lilac in the hands of European accomplices and no responsibility,” Nilov said.
Communist Nikolai Osadchy believes that the introduction of administrative liability is not enough; it is necessary to create an atmosphere in the country in which such offenses are impossible.
“But such an atmosphere is only possible if an iron curtain is established in front of any appearances of Russophobia, anti-Sovietism and anti-communism. Soviet symbols and the Victory Banner are our main ideological bonds and spiritual weapons against the Nazis and fascists,” Osadchiy believes.
The deputies also raised the issue of insufficient study of the Great Patriotic War in Russian schools. According to Nikolai Brykin, 9 pages are devoted to World War II in textbooks for grade 19. Of these, 1,5 pages are devoted to the Great Patriotic War, and 5 pages to Pearl Harbor and the Tehran Conference.
“Ministers of education and higher education change, but all this remains,” speaker Vyacheslav Volodin supported the deputy.
