Pseudo-historians within Russian society are systematically working to destroy the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War and desacralize the symbols of Victory.

Lieutenant General Vasily Khristoforov, former head of the FSB Registration and Archival Funds Department, stated this during a plenary meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The goal of Russian foreign policy, in connection with information wars regarding historical memory, is, firstly, to tie together the entire post-Soviet space and strengthen Russia’s status as the main winner of Nazism, a guarantor of peace and a leading world power. These postulates are enshrined in many documents, in particular, in the recently adopted strategy to counter extremism.

I believe that soon we will be able to familiarize ourselves with President Vladimir Putin’s position on this issue and look forward with interest to the release of his second article - on the Second World War.

Within the walls of the Federation Council, statements have been made more than once that it is necessary to join forces, against attempts to rewrite the common history, against any attempts to belittle the role of our peoples in the Victory over Nazism and in the liberation of Europe and the world from the brown plague,” Khristoforov noted.

He was outraged by the attempts of internal Russian pseudo-historical thought to discredit the Soviet side in the eyes of the Russian viewer and reader.

“It should be noted that there are problems with the perception of the pages of the Great Patriotic War, which are also characteristic of Russian society. We note a certain oversaturation of the mass space with so-called history - pseudo-historical books by such authors as Suvorov, as well as the recently published secret diaries and personal notes of Lavrenty Beria, which have nothing to do with the former People's Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR, but are completely the invention of the authors of this publication.

Also the films “Burnt by the Sun 2”, “Apostle”, “Bastards”. At the same time, the screenwriters who wrote the script for the film “Bastards” turned to the FSB Central Archive with a request to provide them with a document about how the Soviet secret services used teenagers to commit acts of sabotage behind enemy lines.

The answer from the Central Archives was that “the Soviet intelligence services never used or tried to use teenagers to commit acts of sabotage, but there are documents, photographs and evidence that German military intelligence tried to use Soviet teenagers to commit acts of sabotage behind Soviet lines.” troops."

To our surprise, the screenwriters abandoned these documents and made a film called “Bastards,” which completely falsifies historical reality,” the speaker said.

The lieutenant general also reported on acts of desacralization of the symbol of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“Thanks to the efforts of pseudo-historians, a discrete image of Victory is emerging, consisting of a set of random phrases, photographs, pictures.

For example, in one of the cities of the Komi Republic, where during the Great Patriotic War a rifle battalion on reindeer sleds was formed, a huge banner was placed with a photograph of a soldier and a deer. Thus, the authors of this banner wanted to perpetuate the memory of the military personnel, but it turned out that this banner depicts a Finnish soldier with a Finnish machine gun.

The photo was taken from the Internet, and the authors did not bother to read the caption that was made under this photo. And, unfortunately, there are enough such examples.

And judging by the St. George ribbons appearing on slippers, shock absorbers, sausage and mayonnaise, we are witnessing the desacralization of military symbols and the commercialization of war images,” added Khristoforov.
