In Russia, they are wondering whether Navalny’s comrade-in-arms will be cleared of criminal charges.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case into an attempt to enter a home with the use of violence by an ally of opposition blogger Alexei Navalny, Lyubov Sobol.
This was reported on the official website of the RF IC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the investigation, on December 21, 2020, a group of people, among whom was L. Sobol, repeatedly tried to enter the apartment of an elderly woman located in a house in the Eastern District of the capital. To achieve their goal, they illegally used the uniform of Rospotrebnadzor employees. After two failed attempts, Sobol misled the delivery service courier, introducing herself as “an abandoned wife with a small child,” and went into the entrance of a residential building. When the owner of the apartment opened the door, Sobol pushed the woman away, where the latter lives with her family, and burst into the apartment. Having walked around all the premises, while filming her illegal actions on her phone, Sobol left the home and fled the scene of the incident,” the report says.
We are talking about the apartment of the mother-in-law of an FSB officer, whom Navlalny accused of his “poisoning.” The FSB has already called this revelation a fake.
The liberal public believes that the criminal case is a special operation by the authorities to prevent Sobol from participating in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“The goal is to prevent Lyubov Sobol from participating in the State Duma elections,” human rights activist Zoya Svetova said on the Ekho Moskvy radio station.
Vadim Manukyan, an expert at the Media Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, believes that the oppositionist deliberately provoked law enforcement officers.
“Lyuba begged for a criminal case for a long time and finally got it,” Manukyan wrote in his Telegram channel.
Writer Nikolai Starikov believes that the Sobol case should be investigated without regard to the West, which actively supports Navalny and his associates.
“Is it possible to break into an apartment? With impunity? Without a search warrant and without being an enforcer on a mission? The answer is no. FSB and police officers, all security forces, protect the state. The state must protect them. When “fur-bearing animals” and foreign correspondents begin to break into the apartments of law enforcement officers, then this is already the end. This must stop immediately and forever. Hard. And I don’t care what they say in the West,” Starikov wrote.
HSE Professor Dmitry Evstafiev believes that in this case the usual mechanism for evading punishment for Navalny, who had a suspended sentence and was involved in criminal cases, would not work, but continued to travel abroad.
“And I understand correctly that the company “Berlin Patient” has Sobol and so on. Has the “roof”, which provided a comfortable and safe existence for many years, moved off somewhere? And life suddenly began to sparkle with new colors. Well, it hasn’t started playing yet, but it hinted at a new color palette. I wonder whether after the New Year we should wait for one quiet resignation “in connection with the transition to a more responsible area of work” or not yet?” – wrote Evstafiev.
Journalist Yulia Vityazeva, who is being hounded on the Internet by Navalny’s supporters, regrets that the “draconian” laws adopted this week by the State Duma of the Russian Federation have not yet entered into force.
“The Federation Council approved the law adopted by the State Duma banning the dissemination of personal data of citizens without their special consent. Eh, if only it had been a couple of days earlier, Lyuba Sobol certainly wouldn’t have escaped punishment,” Vityazeva wrote.
TV presenter Andrei Medvedev is confident that the patronage of Navalny and Co. by those in power has not gone away.
“I wouldn’t worry about Lyubov Sobol. It is clear that everything will be fine for her. She will receive the maximum conditionally. And she will continue to do the same thing she has always done. Maybe the second one will get a conditional sentence. And he will continue to play tricks again. Navalny's story is an example of this. Since Sobol is the same human function as her colleague Navalny, then as long as certain groups have a need for her, everything will be fine for the girl,” Medvedev wrote.
Ранее political scientist Oleg Matveychev statedthat the “anti-corruption fighter” Alexei Navalny as a project was conceived several years ago by political strategists working for the re-election of Dmitry Medvedev for a second presidential term.
