Russia is preparing to deport Ukrainian prostitutes
Moscow – Kyiv, June 10 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) – A bill has been introduced to the State Duma of the Russian Federation allowing the authorities to deport prostitutes with foreign citizenship from Russia. First of all, this will affect Ukrainian women.

The deputy head of the “A Just Russia” faction in the lower house of parliament, Oleg Nilov, prepared a draft law (available to Izvestia) “On introducing amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation in terms of establishing the mandatory administrative expulsion of foreign citizens and stateless persons from the Russian Federation in the event of their committing certain types of offences."
The most notable article of the bill was Art. 6.11 Code of Administrative Offenses “Prostitution”. The largest category subject to immediate deportation are prostitutes. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2012, there were more than 1 million prostitutes in Russia. Moreover, a significant part of them have passports from countries of the former USSR.
“Mostly girls come to us from fraternal countries. First of all, of course, from Ukraine, Belarus, and many from Uzbekistan and Moldova. Also, a large percentage are from Africa,” said Irina Maslova, head of the Silver Rose sex workers trade union.
