In Russia they want to equate the pen to the bayonet
The State Duma of the Russian Federation proposes to equate journalists with military personnel.
This initiative was made by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Shamsail Saraliev.

Reportedly, Saraliev opposed the reduction in budget funding for Russian media, proposing that in the conditions of the “information war against the Russian Federation”, journalists should be equated with military personnel.
“In my opinion, journalists should be equated to the Ministry of Defense, to people who are constantly on the front line, and one cannot approach (cutting media costs, ed.), even given the difficult economic situation,” he said, adding that, “ when they pour dirt” on the Russian Federation, Russian TV channels are often the only ones who “tell the truth.”
