There are no plans to artificially reduce the number of universities in Russia. This was announced today by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva.

“There is no goal in itself to close branches of well-known universities. There is no quantitative grid. Processes that were running have been suspended. Each specific case is considered,” Vasilyeva said.

According to her, when making decisions for each university, the ministry will be guided by the laws and needs of the region in this educational institution.
