Thus, Vladimir Kopchak, deputy director of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research, said today at a press conference in Kyiv that the delivery of new frigates to the Black Sea Fleet has been disrupted.
“They are equipped with diesel power plants from the Nikolaev enterprise Zoryamashproekt. After 2014, the task was set to domesticate these products. The task was not completed due to sanctions imposed by the West on the supply of high-tech defense products,” Kopchak said.
In January, the Rybinsk enterprise UEC-Saturn completed state tests and began production of three types of gas turbine marine engines, which will allow the completion of the second three frigates of Project 11356.
“They have been laid down and are now in varying degrees of readiness; their construction was slowed down precisely because of the lack of power plants, but now nothing is stopping their construction,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov.
