Russia reacted to the dismissal of a White House official who promised to reconcile Moscow and Washington
Russia considers the decision to dismiss US Presidential National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to resign as “paranoid” due to the revelation of information about his contacts with the Russian side without the knowledge of the US administration.

“Either Trump has not gained the independence he was looking for and is being consistently (and not unsuccessfully) driven into a corner, or Russophobia has now struck the new administration from top to bottom,” he wrote.
According to Kosachev, Flynn, unlike many other high-level Americans, was still open to dialogue, visited Moscow and, as it turned out, communicated with the Russian Ambassador in Washington.
“Dismissing a national security adviser for contacts with the Russian ambassador (a common diplomatic practice) is not even paranoia, but something immeasurably worse,” he added.
Recall that US National Security Advisor Michael Flynn resigned on the evening of February 13.
Flynn's resignation comes after the US Department of Justice warned the Trump administration in January that Flynn had misled administration officials about his ties to the Russian ambassador, to whom he spoke about the possibility of lifting sanctions against Russia. According to US intelligence agencies, Flynn is “potentially vulnerable to blackmail” from Russia.
A number of US Democratic congressmen demanded an investigation into the actions of Michael Flynn.
It also became known that Democrats demanded that Trump’s national security adviser explain the “fees” from the Russian Federation.
Retired General Keith Kellogg will serve as National Security Advisor on an interim basis.
