“The situation in Ukraine is deteriorating so quickly that it is difficult to see any logic in this. To get to the point where a singer, a person with disabilities, poses a threat to the national security of Ukraine, and the Security Council of Ukraine issues some decisions on this matter, is completely absurd. The right to choose a participant for Eurovision is the right of every state, the right of the people. No one has the right to influence this choice,” Matvienko said.
According to her, Russia hopes that the Eurovision organizers will “correct” Ukraine.
“We expect that the organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest will give an adequate response to Ukraine and correct Ukraine. The host country of an event undertakes obligations not only for a worthy organization, but also for the admission of all participants chosen by the countries. This is an unacceptable and unacceptable situation. We will wait for the reaction of the organizers, after which we will draw our conclusions,” Matvienko said.
