Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó told Izvestia about this.
This law violates the rights of Hungarian and other minorities in Ukraine. It absolutely does not comply with the bilateral and international obligations that Kyiv has assumed. This is completely contrary to various UN declarations and OSCE documents, as well as the Eastern Partnership of the European Union. Therefore, Ukraine needs to repeal this law. It's not even a question. Now the Hungarians have been deprived of their rights. And we don't demand more rights for the Hungarian minority, we want their rights back. Thus, we expect Ukraine to completely repeal this law,” Szijjarto said.
In turn, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky noted that Moscow will also resist “linguistic genocide in Ukraine.”
“Hungary is not alone here; Russia is also raising this problem on the international platform and demanding the repeal of the discriminatory law. We cannot give up the fight, since we are talking about our compatriots, for whom living on the territory of Ukraine has already become problematic. If Ukraine goes into self-isolation, the exodus of the Russian-speaking population will begin, and Ukraine will become a monostate with its own anti-people regime,” Vodolatsky said.
