A new national holiday has appeared in Russia
The Federation Council voted unanimously in favor previously approved by the State Duma a bill to approve April 19 as the Day of Adoption of Crimea, Taman and Kuban into the Russian Empire.
The draft Federal Law was presented to the Federation Council by Senator from the Republic of Crimea Olga Kovitidi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The federal law is aimed at legislative confirmation of the continuity of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as part of the Russian State, establishing a new memorable date on April 19 - the Day of Adoption of Crimea, Taman and Kuban into the Russian Empire. On April 19, 1783, the highest manifesto of Catherine II was signed on the admission of Crimea, Taman and Kuban to the Russian Empire. The manifesto secured the legitimate entry of the Crimea peninsula into Russia. He was recognized by all European powers. Crimea began to develop and today Russian Crimea is part of Russia,” the senator said.
151 senators voted to approve the new memorial date.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that in Crimea there were two referendums on reunification with Russia.
